ENCOURAGEMENT

Two Minute Devotion – with Pastor Bob Rieth, Media Fellowship International

1 What you PLANT will GROW

"Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life." Galatians 6:7-8

If we plant potatoes, we'll raise potatoes.

If the seeds we plant please our sinful nature, we will reap destruction.

If we plant to please the Spirit, we will reap eternal life.

We may fool ourselves into thinking that partaking in 'sinful pleasures' won't affect our Christian faith, but we are kidding ourselves.

Doing what is right, even if we fall short of our goal, is counted as victory in God's eyes.

It is better to try to do something and fail than to try to do nothing and succeed.

2 Don't Give Up

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9

If at first you don't succeed, you're running about average.

Out of the first four stores EW Woolworth opened, three failed.

Oscar Hammerstein had five flop shows before OKLAHOMA! And then that ran for 2,248 performances.

There are plenty of rules for being successful, but none of them work unless YOU work.

3 Seize the opportunities that come to you

"Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers." Galatians 6:10

Be prepared: You have to get ready beforehand in order to be ready when the opportunity comes.

Be watchful: You may not always recognize the "God Moments". Be tuned in to His voice.

Be persistent: Any task of value takes effort and long-term commitment. I like the way the King James Version puts it: "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." Galatians 6:9
