Support Christian teachers' vital role

Christian teachers really do make a difference. That's the theme of the Association of Christian Teachers in England one-day conference next month.

Guest speakers at the event on 8 November are Mark Greenstock, director of TISCA (The Independent Christian Schools Association), and Dr John Shortt from EurECA (European Educators Christian Association).

ACT DAY 2003 - at Carr's Lane Church Centre in Birmingham - aims to encourage and equip Christian teachers to live out their faith at work, and help them make a difference in the classroom or lecture hall.

Mark said: "We often think of what Christian teachers do to support society - as they model the biblical virtues of love, justice, patience and hope to the next generation. However, we don 't always stop to think what those who live and work outside education could and should be doing to support Christian teachers!"

The Association of Christian Teachers in Scotland will meet on the same day at Tayside Christian Fellowship, Perth. Speakers on Spirituality in Schools will include Jonathan de Groot, an Edinburgh-based youth worker; Chic Lidstone, Chaplain at Perth High School; and missionary, Moira Smith.

Cliff says 'yes' to evangelist's It's A Boy resource!

Sir Cliff Richard gave his support to the launch of Steve Legg's It's A Boy Christmas resources range.

Evangelist Steve said: "We are so grateful to Cliff for all his support and interest in the project. He loves the song, written by Mick Gisbey and Simon Goodall - and has put it on his Christmas single which is released on 8 December. He's quietly confident that it'll make it into the top five."

Cliff thought It's A Boy was a wonderful idea. "Steve's done a fantastic job in putting together some superb resources that will help millions of children understand the real meaning of Christmas. I'm delighted to lend it my support."

The It's A Boy talking book and story book are both available at £5.99 from bookshops or direct from PO Box 3070, Littlehampton, West Sussex BN17 6WX. They can also be ordered via www.itsaboy.org.uk
