Giving
marriages a helping hand
Care for the Family's brand new course for couples in the first five years
of their marriage is now available!
Connect2 encourages couples to explore key issues that can strengthen
and build their relationship during the early years of marriage. It's been
designed so that it can be easily used in the community - it can be hosted
by churches, community groups, health centres and other interested parties.
Firm foundations
The course conveys the important message that couples can find fulfilment and
happiness - even if things don't go according to plan. By giving newly married
couples excellent communication tools, they can learn to work through minor
problems before they get out of hand. Exploring the key themes of the course
- commitment, expectations, intimacy and sex - will help couples establish
firm foundations for a lifelong marriage.
Anne Carlos, who co-authored the course for Care for the Family, explains: "If
you believe in marriage and want to encourage those who have just married,
then I think Connect2 is an excellent way of helping couples. It challenges
couples to think through the issues they may face and the direction their marriage
is taking, before problems arise."
Getting the balance
Connect2 also provides couples with a helpful overview of how relationships
work, by ensuring that they get the balance between commitment, intimacy and
passion right. Over five sessions, couples are encouraged to discuss a wide
range of important issues with each other.
"Discussing
issues, making joint decisions and working toward common goals
all help to build a stronger relationship," says Anne.
Course presenters need no special training as the Connect2 pack contains everything
needed to run the course in their church or community.
