Hand on a positive heritage

Christian parents can help their children come to faith in a fun and exciting way, claims Dave Carlos, Assistant Director of national charity Care for the Family.

"Many Christian parents find sharing their faith with their children a challenge," explains Dave, who has produced a series of resources and practical ideas called Heritage Builders to help parents carry out this important task.

"There are two main things that parents tell me after hearing about Heritage Builders," says Dave. "Firstly, that they never realised they could use the time they already spend with their children to talk about the things that matter and, secondly, what a huge amount of fun they can have."

One of the key aspects of the resource is 'Family Moments', in which parents will discover that mealtimes, car journeys and bedtimes can all become times when spiritual truths can be passed on to their children. There are also several ideas for special 'Family Nights', with activities and games.

It is hoped that Heritage Builders will also have a wider appeal. "Many churches and small group leaders find the resources useful as they work with families," explains Dave.

  • A special introductory evening will take place at Woodlands Christian Centre, Belgrave Road, Bristol on 23 November from 7.30-10pm. Tickets cost £6 and can be booked through Care for the Family at www.careforthefamily.org.uk
