Opportunity to pray for prodigals as popular event tours in March

In March, people in Bath, Exeter and Swansea will have the opportunity to pray for their families and friends as Bringing Home the Prodigals hits the road again. This inspirational event from Care for the Family gives a heartfelt message of hope and encouragement from popular author and speaker, Rob Parsons.

More than 20,000 people have already attended Bringing Home the Prodigals in the UK and the events in Bath, Exeter and Swansea are expected to be just as popular.

"Wherever we take this message, we find people are eager to commit their prodigals to God," explains Rob Parsons. "At the events, I see the way people respond and I know that it's touching their hearts."

The evenings include a time of worship led by Spring Harvest worship teams and also an opportunity for people to write the names of their prodigals on special prayer cards and place them symbolically at the foot of the cross. Rob discusses some of the things that help 'create' a prodigal and outlines ways in which families and Churches can get ready to welcome prodigals home. He is also joined on stage by his wife, Dianne, who shares from a mother's perspective on some of the things parents can do to help prevent their children becoming prodigals.

Rob believes that this message is a vital one for people to hear. "At each event we urge people not to give up on praying for their prodigals. We remind ourselves that God loves our prodigals even more than we do and, in every sense, knows exactly where they are. That's a powerful source of encouragement for those who want to see their prodigals return."

Bringing Home the Prodigals has been welcomed by many UK church leaders. Dr Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury, described it as "both deeply practical and extremely moving; it reacquaints us with the very centre of the Gospel of Jesus."

Rev Joel Edwards, General Director of the Evangelical Alliance, expressed his support for the events, saying: "We must not take our eyes off the great tragedy of those who leave the Church. I believe there is something very special about this project and I am thrilled that it has begun."

Rev David Coffey, General Secretary of the Baptist Union and Free Church Moderator and Co-President for Churches Together in Britain and Ireland said it was "an examination of what really matters to God".
