The G8

This summer Britain hosts the G8 summit in Gleneagles, Scotland from the 6-8 July. MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY is organising a mass rally in Edinburgh on 2 July, to which SPEAK are taking the Big Dress

Join tens of thousands of others in Edinburgh on 2 July to demand trade justice, debt cancellation, and more and better aid for the world's poorest countries. Come, bring friends and show the G8 leaders how much the UK public cares about global poverty and injustice.

1 JULY - SPEAK and Tearfund’s creative prayer night

10.30-12 midnight at St Columbus Free Church, 14 Johnston Terrace, Edinburgh, EH1 2PW including liturgy, worship and prayer stations around Trade, Debt and Aid. Come and pray at the start of a vital week of action.

2 JULY - MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY Rally

The event will be a safe and fun day - so bring as many people as you can!

10.30am - 7.30pm - THE MEADOWS - THE BIG DRESS will be in the Gener8ion zone as a chill out café and prayer space, there will also be two main stages, a campaigns zone, a faith zone, and a children’s zone – all featuring international speakers, music, entertainment, stalls and activities

11am, 12pm and 1pm – MARCH lead off times around the city. Please wear white so that from the air the city is circled in a giant human white band.
3pm - the ‘mass moment’. A minute’s silence followed by a lot of noise. Bring something to be noisy with!

3 JULY – WORSHIP SERVICE (hopefully!). Details tbc, watch your emails for more info.

Could you volunteer as a steward in the Big Dress? We really need help to make everything happen so please contact ros@speak.org.uk (0207 249 4309) if you can be involved (as with the rest of the coalition we are unable to offer expenses for travel, sorry!).
