Family matters to your mobile
Family Matters is a new service from national charity Care for the Family which gives people the opportunity to hear popular author and speaker Rob Parsons dispense short pieces of advice every week. Family Matters is run using the brand-new Trikl® learning technology that has been developed to facilitate business learning programmes.
“We believe that using this new system to deliver advice and encouragement will be an overwhelmingly positive use of modern technology,” explains Andrew Cooper, Head of Communications, “We hope that many families will benefit from this especially people who perhaps cannot attend a Care for the Family seminar, or who are too busy to contemplate reading a book. Family Matters is a new way for Care for the Family to support families with the day-to-day issues they face.”
The complete series of 18 Family Matters messages costs £9.99. The recordings are made available on a weekly basis, with text reminders sent so that people never miss an edition. Each Family Matters message lasts approximately one and a half minutes. The messages can be received on mobile phones, ordinary landlines and over the Internet.

Digital hymnbook available on CD
The Family Friendly Churches Trust has launched a CD-based 'Digital Hymnbook' containing the words of more than 300 public domain hymns in Powerpoint format. Each one has an appropriate photographic backdrop.
There are multiple versions of each hymn to cover the different traditions within the wider Church and the CD has the PowerPoint Viewer built in along with a comprehensive index of hymns. This means that it can be used effectively without any other software.
However if someone has PowerPoint, then the files can either be loaded into a complete presentation or called up as needed using the ‘Presenter View’. They can also be used with many of the popular song projection systems.
The CD costs £26.99 including postage and packing.

Internet 'babysitter' launched
A British firm has released a unique piece of software, which for the first time offers parents or teachers an off-the-shelf means of ensuring their children are safe when using family or school computers unsupervised.
Requiring no technical knowledge to install and set-up, The Internet Babysitter silently monitors children's activities online, recording the sites they have accessed and conversations they've had in chat rooms and 'messenger' programs, so that parents can be sure they are safe from inappropriate content or contact.
