  • Through The Roof - the UK Christian disability ministry affiliated to Joni Eareckson Tada's Joni and Friends, has information and resources for Disability Ministry Sunday on 28 September, and much more: www.throughtheroof.org and www.joniandfriends.org

  • Direct online ministry is growing, and one of the best starting points if you want to see what's going on, or have something to offer, is Internet Outreach Ministry. You can work in chatroom settings, get involved in e-Bible studies or be available for online counselling. A real growth area.
  • Wendy's Oasis, a Christian site based in New Zealand, offers From the Father's Arms, a support group for mums "experiencing a subsequent pregnancy following the loss of a child through miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death up to six weeks." Prayer supporters and encouragers are welcome; pertinent articles are also included on the site.
    A Christian Miscarriage Support Group is another mailing list that deals with child-loss through miscarriage, and is open to men and women for Christian encouragement, prayer, friendship and fellowship.

    Dick Tripp, an Anglican clergyman from New Zealand, believes "there is a crisis of misunderstanding of the Christian faith. Many Christian beliefs are widely misunderstood and often intentionally misrepresented in public discussion."   • Crusade for World Revival (CWR), "applying God's Word to everyday life and relationships," offers samples of the popular Every Day with Jesus devotionals by Selwyn Hughes in PDF format, as well as samples of youth devotional material YPs, Topz, Tails and Timez.   • Christian website www.word-on-the-web.co.uk, which distributes daily Bible readings by e-mail, celebrated its first anniversary earlier this month. The project, co-ordinated by David and Alison Booker for the Church Army’s Sheffield centre, now attracts almost 1,500 users per day.

  • Receive free e-mail cartoons and pictures from UK Christian artist Peter Millward.   • When God spoke to Sharon Martin about launching a website for mission and evangelism, she next to nothing about the internet. Now www.acts-on-the-net.org has some unique features including personal pages you can update yourself and direct your friends to. Take a look.

  • More and more churches are upgrading their approach to child protection with the help of the Churches' Child Protection Advisory Service. Their site is the starting place for information and answers to any questions you may have.

  • UCB Europe launched its first-ever internet broadcast via UCB-Inspirational. The station now operates four satellite radio channels on Astra 2; UCB Europe, as well as UCB Inspirational, UCB Bible and the latest station, UCB Talk. More are expected to follow.

  • One of the great strengths of the internet is the ability to draw together like-minded people without geographical distance making the slightest bit of difference. Multiple Sclerosis and Christ describes itself as "a place for Christians with MS. Through this site we can share our experiences with MS and how faith helps us to survive this challenge". It could be a lifeline for you or someone close to you.

  • Taking a fascinating slant on the seeker who has stacks of questions they're burning to ask God, Interview with God has gained huge publicity - and popularity - recently. It's easy to see why: stunning photos of the natural world drift in as backdrops to an unfolding conversation between the seeker and God. The work of Alabama Sunday School teacher Reata Strickland, it's a superb example of slick Shockwave animation and pithy Christian insight. A starting point for your not-yet-Christian friends.

  • Encounter Christianity promises "a vibrant new series of books, designed for teaching RE at Key Stage 1 in a fresh, informative way". Produced by the National Society and Church House Publishing, they aim to help "develop pupils' spiritual awareness and encourage a creative response to the central themes of Christianity".

  • Thanks to the funding of a three-year development project by the Jerusalem Trust, Joseph Rank Benevolent Fund and the Laing Trust, Christian Deaf Link UK now have their first full-time staff member.   • The Creation v Evolution debate regularly prompts passionate debate in Christian academia, and often too in schools in the US.   • If you would benefit from a traditional run through the Easter story using classic works of art, click HERE. It's a helpful aid to meditation on the Passion of Christ and may well reintroduce some Old Masters to a new audience.

  • Damaris Trust, with Premier Radio and Scripture Union, produce contemporary Connect Bible Studies. These are “innovative resources for Bible study (particularly in small groups) that aim to help in linking the Word to the world”. They will be available in sets of four (enough for one month) from the Connect Bible Studies website Each set explores a biblical perspective on issues raised by a significant book, film, album or television programme.

  • Counties evangelist for Northamptonshire, Steve Pearman, has a website - www.seekinglife.org.uk - for those surfing the internet to look for answers to the big questions of life. The site looks at trying to find those answers through money, relationships, career, and status, before talking about spiritual needs. Steve said: "Eventually surfers are asked to make a decision. One lady has now started her journey back to God after years of feeling alienated by him."

  • Struggling with financial problems? Free and confidential debt counselling, financial education, budgeting advice and insolvency services are provided by trained staff at Christians Against Poverty.

  • Looking for a user-friendly site to encourage your non-Christian but seeking friends to visit? Check out church.co.uk for a laid-back but interesting take on a jargon-free, welcoming home for those looking for truth. It's one of many projects run by the Oasis Trust.

  • Christian business centres are starting to spring up in different parts of the country, and provide a valuable way of sharing costs, vision and ideas for making a difference locally, as well as running successful businesses. Here's one worth checking out, serving the Black Country in the West Midlands - businessnet.org.uk

  • Whether it's keeping up to date with a Christian perspective on the latest film, album or book, or getting fuel for your teaching and preaching, the Damaris Trust have a website packed with resources and ideas. Check it out. Further reflections on the Harry Potter debate are available at the Damaris website, with a study guide for Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire. Well worth a look.

  • Tim Nichols writes to suggest you check out Irish Christians Online - an Irish-based website providing Christian information and Christian resources for churches, communities, prayer groups and youth groups in Ireland

  • Community action projects achieve the most, and give the best value for money when they are faith-based, and most particularly, Christian-run. That's the message being pursued by the faithworks campaign. The whole project is moving up a gear or two - check out their new site to keep up and get your church involved.

  • Revivalnet have now opened the Believers Global Directory. Previously, directory links were only possible in regional categories for sites which carried a Revivalnet banner in return. This is no longer a requirement and sites can now be added to the non-geographical 'global' section. Naturally, submitted pages should be broadly in sympathy with the aims of the site.

  • Another site to investigate if you're looking for a Christian portal is Theway.co.uk. It offers a mix of features and resources, plus a full safe surfing option for £2 a month via a special Microsoft browser, available for download.

  • The Bruderhof community have attracted their share of flak over the years, but it's hard to argue with the quality of some of the books being produced by their linked publishing house, Plough. It's a slick site where you can download an e-book and get some worthwhile freebies.

  • Premier Radio celebrated its fifth anniversary on air with the launch of a new prayer website recently. It's a supplement to the station's online confessional.

  • Check out Christians At Work – for support in the workplace. This evangelical group supports workplace ministry and witness via some 325 groups nationally, and 400 associates. You can also mail them at office@christiansatwork.org.uk

  • It may be US-based, but the DramaShare Organizational Manual Volume 3.0 looks well worth investigating with sections on Theatre Warm-Up Games, Characterization, Skills Training for all ages including child actors, forms of Drama Ministry (including mime, puppetry, human video, storytelling, clowning and others), plus 15 royalty-free scripts. Listed are more than 150 sources for drama materials and support, and the web-based ministry is also including their "Surfin' Drama" diskette with over 400 websites for drama resources, while stocks last. Plenty of resources are also available at reasonable cost via their site.

  • Go on, own up, you never thought you could assess architecture from a Christian perspective, did you? Well, one group of believing architects beg to differ and you can see why at www.arxitecture.org.uk The site's a little on the basic side, but there's plenty of food for thought

  • Fancy a tour of the "people, places, things, topics and timeline of the Bible"? Then head for The Biblelands Project - there's even an e-counsellor online for any queries.

  • If you can cope with a little cheesiness and some unapologetic Republican campaigning, the US-based Christart site has stacks of free Christian clip art for you to use

  • Taking an innovate approach to low-key evangelism via the web is Holy Space - a collaborative effort stemming from CPO and OSBD (youth outreach resource One Small Barking Dog). It's a cool, highly interactive site making plentiful use of Shockwave and Flash plug-ins, so you'll need them to view it. But it's ideal for teenagers and techy types keen on investigating Christian spirituality on their own terms, in some style. Recommend it to your youth group.

  • WAP the Gospel! The new WAP technology – Wireless Application Protocol – offers a fresh way of using the Internet to share the Gospel, piping through new style web pages to WAP-enabled mobile phones. The online Web Evangelism Guide has launched a growing section to explain how Christians can use WAP: http://www.brigada.org/today/articles/wap.html
    Soon, evangelistic web-sites and church pages will be able to offer messages, news, and even audio/video direct to mobile users.

  • Always fascinating, frequently controversial and sometimes just plain daft, the hunt for Noah's Ark goes on. Check out www.arksearch.com/index.htm for a very in-depth look - packed with history and biblical arguments. You may not agree with it all, but you'll want to read it, anyway.

  • Taking shape at the moment and promising to be a valuable resource for missionaries, overseas Christian workers and UK churches is the OSCAR portal, set up with Global Connections (formerly the Evangelical Missionary Alliance). There's useful information, resources, links and stacks of ideas. Check it out at http://www.oscar.org.uk
  • The portal now has a section related to crisis management issues. You'll find information on personal security, travel safety, accident prevention, disaster response, evacuation, hostage/kidnapping, emergency survival and more. The page is divided into sections on courses/training, advice and resources.

  • Has your church got a dynamic vision for mission, at home or overseas? New missionary resource Global Connections (formerly Evangelical Missionary Alliance) has teamed up with Christian Herald (http://www.christianherald.org.uk) to track down creative, imaginative projects set up by local churches.
